KidsCan is an amazing organisation that helps tamariki right across Aotearoa, providing food, jackets, shoes and health products through schools and early childhood centres.  Thousands more kids desperately need their support and their waiting lists were growing day by day, so the organisation was on the look out for new ways to secure funding.

KidsCan came to us for a look and feel and approach to promoting their new property ‘KidsCanBall’ - an epic 24-hour telethon styled handball-athon that was both live-streamed and broadcast on The Hits. A fun-draising idea created by Kids Can ambassador Jordan Watson (How to DAD) who then enlisted help from his friends Jono & Ben (from The Hits).

Be there or be four square: our job was simple, make it fun and make it stand out - so we merged the energy of classic sports player cards with the cheek of a kiwi schoolyard. Creating a characterful and fun filled design language that matched the quirk and energy of the event itself. Along with doco style storytelling direct from Jordan, Jono and Ben on their handball journey we managed to communicate a fresh take on the classic vibe of the  ‘4 square’ schoolyard icon.

And the best news - not only did this dynamic team make and distinguished bench of celebrities and ring in’s make it through 24-hours of non-stop handball,  they managed to raise $475,207 for Kiwi kids in the process. Easily beating the pre event target of $350, 000 - simply magic stuff.
